A3 FOUNDATION ORGANISES LIT-ARCHI AND AWARD FUNCTION
On 16th February 2019, the foundation organized LIT-FEST, a Literary Festival on architecture held in Audirium, Museum & Art Gallery, Sector-10, Chandigarh. This is the first of its kind that has taken place. In this pioneering initiative, the foundation invited eminent architects who also write some of them turning to main stream writing totally. Being professionals the genre of writing particularly fiction is something extraordinary talent that the panel discussed.
The eminent panelist included Ar Surinder Bahga, the noted architect from Chandigarh who is also Advisor to Union Home Ministry on UT-Chandigarh, was former IIA Chandigarh-Punjab Chapter Chairman. He has edited JIIA journal for two years and has co-authored/edited five books. Mr Bahga was also the Guest of Honour of the event.
Other panelists included Sangeet Sharma, founder Chairman of A3 Foundation, a practicing architect and has authored five books on architecture including his latest book on satire ‘Castles in the Air’. Rahul Saini a famed author, Deepika Gandhi Director Le Corbusier Centre and Co-author of two books, Vivek Sabherwal Director of Apeejay School ofArchitecture & Planning in Greater Noida, and Renu Rajaram Chief Editor for the magazine Window and Facade. The panelists presented their authorship expetise and their Literary side. There was healthy interaction among themselves.
Ar S.D Sharma the eminent architect from Chandigarh also spoke about his book titled “The Architecture of Shiv Datt Sharma and forthcoming book on “Pierre Jeanneret”. Ar Sharma worked with Corbuser and Jeanneret in the making of Chandigarh.Purnima Sharma, Co-chairman introduced LIT-ARCHI and conducted the session.The Guest speaker was Ar. ZannatJui, from the famous architectural firm SHATOTTO architecture for green living. Zannat presented her projects.
The famous sufi band ‘The Red Brick House‘ performed at the venue. They sang their popular sufi songs written by Hindi poets. One of their songs tited ‘Kitabein‘ was written by renowned activist and play writer Safdar Hashmi was most appropriate to the event. The singers of the band comprised of ‘Shivani Sharma, and Sharang Sharma. The compositions were done by the renowned Punjabi Music Composer Shatul Sharma.
The foundation gave away their National awards to the best students, architects, architectural journalists, teachers and young achievers. This is their annual Award function which was in their fifteenth year now.
