A3 foundation celebrates “Jeanneret Day”.
A3 foundation celebrates “Jeanneret Day” at the Chandigarh College of Architecture on5th March 2013.
Jeanneret was the cousin of le Corbusier who did most of the buildings other than capitol complex. His contribution is overlooked generally. His prominent buildings in the city are Gandhi Bhawan and hostels at Panjab University, Le Corbusier Centre, Sector-19, Chandigarh, besides many schools colleges and residences.
The event witnessed a talk by Ar SD Sharma, an eminent architect who was a close associate of Pierret Jeanneret. He worked on many projects with Jeanneret. In his talk; Ar Sharma reflected his association with the master saying that Jeanneret was a noble and humble man. He was a genius and master in detailing. His contribution is no less that le Corbusier if the overall contribution is to be valued.
Sharma, showed the valuable involvement in making of the city of Chandigarh. He stressed on the need to study his buildings more within an appropriate forum.
The foundation invited Ar Stephane Paumier, practicing architect from Delhi who presented his projects.
As a special contribution to the city, A3 foundation has designed a brochure on Architectural tourism, which is a handy leaflet and ready reckenor for students and architects who wish to visit the marvels of the city. There is no such comprehensive literature available so far and this would be the unique proposal. The leaflet was also released same day by the Chairman, A3 Foundation.
The foundation has initiated many student awards, and this time under the title of Pierre Jeannert Sustainable awards, the prizes were bagged by, students of Gwalior, Lucknow, and Chandigarh.
